Pink Explosion

Daisha is one fortunate little girl. Our families have had an explosion of pink.  Daisha will have 5 little girl cousins that are all within 7 months of her age.  On the Lindberg side we have 2 little ones here and 1 more coming this month.

On the Vercler side, both of my sisters have had little girls in the past 4 months.  The ones who are here are all pictured below.  It's going to be a lot of pink craziness!

Daisha Kay Lindberg

I thought I wouldn't be writing this post until mid-February but that is not how things worked out. Daisha decided to make her entrance early and arrived on 1/18 (she now shares a birthday with my Dad who turned 60 this year).

I was only 36 weeks, so I have a little premie who weighed just 5lbs 11oz at birth. Quite the contrast from my over 8 lb children who were both a week late. We have no idea why I went into pre-term labor.

She had trouble breathing at first so she spent 4 days in the NICU but she rebounded very quickly and is doing great at home.

We are thankful for God's strength and faithfulness.

Below are some of her newborn pictures taken by my very talented sister Diana.

2's company and 3's a party....Babies on the way

It's now public knowledge ... my sisters and I are expecting together

Diana - December
Me - February
Amanda - April

These cousins will be in the same grade in school!!!  Whoa.  We are very excited but I'll admit the idea still overwhelms me at times :).

Zoie and Simon have something to share...

If you haven't heard already...

Zoie (and her parents) are very excited. Simon doesn't really have a clue :).

Key Lime Cove

I know it's been a long time since I have posted anything here. Just chalk it up to being very very busy with two kids. That's what I'm telling myself anyway. Now since I pray I get to keep these beautiful children for a while, I don't think it's going to improve anytime soon.

Here though is a sneak peak into our vacation to Key Lime Cove/Six Flags earlier this June. We just took a short trip with Brian and Amber and family in the middle of the week for a family fun getaway. It was a great time. We all had lots of fun. These pictures are just of Key Lime Cove.

Simon loves the water until he gets too cold. Then he wants to quit  and go for a nap. Zoie likes it but nothing too adventurous.  Only the easiest of slides...but at least she had fun.

I love water parks and this was nice because it was all indoors. So even though it rained one day...didn't matter.  Going in the middle of week is also good because it's pretty empty. We didn't have to wait in line hardly at all.

Lindberg Chopped Fantasy Game

One of my favorite shows is Chopped on the Food Network. On our trip to Georgia we did a Lindberg-version of this beloved show.  We divided into two teams - guys against girls.

Here were the basket items
Chicken breasts
Asparagus
Sweet Peppers
Cream Cheese
Artichoke hearts
Strawberries
Avocados

We each had to prepare a main dish and a side using the basket items in some way. We also had access to anything in the pantry, fridge or freezer of the Lindberg house.

Then one team had appetizer and one team had dessert.

The girls made
Grilled marinated chicken breast topped with roasted red pepper and caramelized onions with a strawberry balsamic vinegar roasted red pepper reduction
A warm grilled chopped salad with grilled asparagus, sweet peppers, grilled romaine (mixed then cold romaine) and grilled onions dressed with olive oil (no picture of this)
A spinach artichoke heart cream cheese spread on toasted bread topped with fresh tomatoes and avocados

The guys made
Grilled chicken topped with an avocado roasted red pepper cream cheese spread
Sweet peppers stuffed with cream cheese goat cheese and jalapeno
Sauteed asparagus with bacon and grilled bacon wrapped asparagus
Strawberry cream cheese and chocolate cake trifle (no picture either)

We were judged on taste, presentation, and creativity (in that order)

All of it was delicious...so we decided we all won.  It was fun to eat to different items and to be inventive with our mystery ingredients. It is a bit of a fantasy of mine to do chopped. I have a feeling we will be doing this sometime with friends in our house. Trouble is, I love the surprise of the mystery ingrediants, so it's hard to host it. But we'll figure something out.

Here are some pictures below

Wedding Bells

For those who may not have heard, my youngest sister is getting married this May!  Duane is a great guy...only downfall is that he lives in Kansas. My sister thinks then she needs to move to Kansas once they are married. While I can't argue with her logic, we will miss her very much.

Here are pictures of the cute couple

While Amanda is a giddy bride-to-be...this photo proves some things just don't change :)

My little treats

Here are a few shots from our Trick or Treating. Of course this outing is wildly popular with Zoie. Dress up and get candy from people's houses?...doesn't get much better than that.

This photo will teach me to take the pictures BEFORE we go out, not after

Just along for the ride
Candy from the first house, can you tell she is excited?

Brother and Sister

My very talented sister-in-law Renae took some pictures of Simon for me. I of course wanted the two kids together as well but Zoie's willingness to cooperate was pretty minimal. She did get this really cute one of them though.

Thanks Renae for helping me capture the memories!

Simon Mark Lindberg

Monday, July 9, at 12:14 in the afternoon, we welcomed Simon Mark Lindberg into the world. Everything went well and we are now happily enjoying him at home.  As you can probably tell from the pictures below we all love him very much. Enjoy the pictures.

Just like Aunt Amanda

Zoie loves all her Aunts and Uncles dearly. She is always up for big hugs, snuggles, kisses etc.  She always squeals in glee and talks about them when she sees their picture.

But the "cool" aunt who she wants to be like is Aunt Amanda.  Here they are in their similar style skirts and painted toes at Easter.

Zoie is in luck because she is built a lot like Aunt Amanda (long and thin) and has a similiar loving fun spirit. She's not quite as bold as Aunt Amanda, which Zoie's mommy is ok with :).  Zoie even looks a lot like Amanda did as a young child and I'll admit to calling Zoie "Amanda" more times than is probably normal. So Zoie, you are well on your way to being a lot like your Aunt Amanda.

Safe with Daddy

My little girl absolutely adores her Daddy. She gets so excited when he comes home. Here she is at our Super Bowl Party. She was tired, so she just climbs up on Dad's lap and goes to sleep, despite all the noise.

She also thinks every "Prince Charming" from Aladdin to the Prince in Cinderella is the Daddy character.  Shows you how highly she regards her Dad. Can't say I disagree with her.

Cousin Buddies...and an Aunt.

Here are some pictures of Zoie's special buddies. Some of her cousins who she loves to play with. So thankful for each one. Oh yes and one picture with Aunt Amanda who she is also a big fan of.

Auto Show

In February our little family took a short trip to the Chicago Auto Show. We stayed at the Hyatt at McCormick Place on Friday night and enjoyed the show the next day. Zoie definitely had fun getting in and out of the cars. A fun family day.

You can tell where we are in life as we spent a considerable amount of time looking at the vans and larger SUVs....oh dear :).

Oh Boy!

Mark and I found out yesterday that our little bundle of joy is a little boy. He is doing well and is on track to come sometime in early July. We feel very blessed to have another precious baby on the way.

As far as Zoie's reaction, she'll tell you that there is a baby in mommy's tummy, that she is going to be a big sister, and she is having a brother but I don't think she truthfully understands what any of those things mean. She just knows that is the right answers.

Open wide

Zoie had her first dentist appointment today. I was a little nervous about the whole thing for those of you who have heard my stories, she typically is afraid of new things. I wasn't sure how she would feel about people poking around in her mouth. But she did great, she was such a big girl. She opened her mouth nice, followed instructions on how to use the sucker thingy, and was just an all-around trouper.

I was very pleased. No cavities to report and she is doing great.  Good job little girl!

(yes I'm the dorky mom who took pictures of them cleaning her teeth)

Staying Warm

I know it has been some time since I posted anything. I just thought I'd post this cute picture of Zoie to add variety to the blog.  Have a great day and stay warm!

Coming in June....

Say 1 ...2...3....Laura's Pregnant

Do this and the above reaction is what you will receive. At least with my family.  It's true, Zoie is going to be a big sister come the end of June 2012, Lord willing. We are very excited, despite all the people we apparently told we just wanted Zoie. While it's true we are very content with our little girl, we have been blessed by our siblings and felt Zoie would feel the same. It's just time to grow our little family.

My Little Flower

Zoie was a flower this year. She loved going around from house to house knowing each time they opened the door she'd get candy. The last picture is what happens when you tell her no to her 6th piece of candy. The next step after that is a short nap for Zoie :).

California Vacation - San Francisco

After we flew into Sacramento, we drove down to San Francisco for a long weekend. I loved San Francsico. It just is so unique in it's look, feel etc... We didn't do a quarter of the stuff we could have but I really enjoyed it. Here are a few pictures.
